Starting point „Ion Selective Electrodes“ are an important component of the Cobas Integra blood analyser. They measure the ion concentrations in blood or urine. As the „Ion selective electrode“ module is very complicated, it is vital that staff are comprehensively and adequately trained so that they can troubleshoot efficiently and effectively. With such a complex subject, regular follow-up training is an important consideration. Support staff must be trained worldwide and quickly. For this reason, Roche has asked Business Interactive to develop a Web-Based Training course to teach the substantial theoretical component of the 3-day training course.
Target audience Around 300 international support staff at Roche, who are responsible for the maintainance of COBRA Integra laboratory testers.
Implementation The learning program is made up of 6 modules of 45 to 60 minutes each. Themes are electrodes, initialisation, measurement, calibration of the electrodes, service actions and error messages. There are also instructions on troubleshooting the ISE-module.
The processes are illustrated using specially developed complex 2D animation. They play an important role in giving staff a comprefensive and well-founded understanding of ISE measurements. Every learning step is reinforced by motivating drag-and-drop or multiple choice exercises. Each module is rounded off with a test where the learner can check his level of knowledge. There is also provision for linking the test results to a learning management system.
The learning program can be called up from the Roche Intranet by any member of staff.
